My
main role as the Vice Principal is to develop
the master schedule. Over the years, I have
tried my hardest to ensure that each year’s
program was student centered in that students
did not have to make a choice between two
electives because of scheduling conflicts. In
my time as the vice principal, we have increased
our ROP (Regional Occupation Program) courses;
introduced more fine arts courses as well as new
social science offerings. The future holds even
greater opportunities for all our students and I
look forward to working with the Mission
community in developing a program that
encourages academic growth and ensures success
in whatever challenges our graduates pursue.
This
year I have become involved in a program that I
hope will be a permanent fixture at Mission
High. We were fortunate to have been invited to
participate in Stanford’s SOS (Stressed Out
Students) program. To date, the leadership team
consisting of students, parents, teachers,
counselors and administration has developed a
vision statement and action plan. We have begun
offering parent workshops and will survey
students in the area of academic stress. I am
delighted to be a part of this program and hope
that we can bring change to our school community
in this most important aspect of student life.

It
is exciting to be a part of this wonderful
school. The staff, students and parents that I
have met over the last eight years have enriched
my life. I have had the opportunity to begin a
sister school relationship with a similar school
in Shenzhen, China, receive the Sieman’s AP
award in Washington DC on behalf of our school
as well as be present when several of our
teachers have been honored by various
organizations.
The
greatest pleasure is in working with the
students. As the junior class administrator, I
have come to know many of the class and hope to
get a chance to meet many more. The students at
Mission are the best in the world and their
enthusiasm is contagious.
I
look forward to the school year and the
opportunities that lie ahead.
