This past weekend, twenty-five of the Mission San Jose Cross Country runners
competed in the Stanford Invitational, held in Palo Alto on the Stanford golf
course. Each year this invitational attracts a lot of the best runners from
across the nation making it one of the most competitive races of the season.
The boys Junior Varsity team led by Nelson Yu placed 13th out of a
field of 21 teams. Nelson covered the 2 mile course in a time of 10:14,
followed by Ricky McFerrin (11:10) and Teddy Fong (11:25). On the JV girls
side, Irene Ting (14:28), Meng Wu (14:32), Moriah Kreeger (14:41) and Anna Kim
(14:56) all had very strong performances. Trevor Addison led the boy’s varsity
team finishing the 3 mile course in a time of 17:15. Christian Kang and Amrit
Dhar, ran strong, on this difficult course finishing in 18:51 and 19:55.
Katherine Eve led the girl’s team with a time of 21:36. The standout
performance of the day came from Zoe Lu, running her first 3 mile race and
finishing in a time of 22:45. Allyson Blenis, Julie Hughes, Linda Xu, Sonia
Sajja and Ashley Holtze all ran strong races. |
