On September 26th, Mission
raced against a very competitive Logan team at Cesar Chavez
Middle School in Union City. Due to some confusion with the
course and all of Mission’s top Frosh/Soph runners going the
wrong direction, Logan won 15 to 50. In the Girls Junior
Varsity division Logan won 24 to 33. Esther Chu had a great
debut race, leading the Mission girls with a time of 14:24,
followed closely by solid performances from Zoe Lu and
Estefanie Del Cid. Despite the efforts of Jerry Chai 12:34,
Brian Tsui 12:49, Justin Soong 12:51 and Chirag Vasavda
13:01, Logan won the Junior Varsity Boys division 15 to 44.
Katherine Eve led the Varsity Girls to
a solid win over Logan. Katherine won the race in a time of
21:24, followed by a solid block of Mission runners with
Sonia Sajja (22:07), Allyson Blenis (22:13), Anjana Bala
(22:17) and Siwen Dickstein (22:26) placing 3rd,
4th, 5th and 6th
respectively. Chelsea Kitta (23:41) finished strong in her
first race after knee surgery, finishing 8th.
Mission’s two superstar freshmen, Joey
Uken (17:20) and Evan Dankiewicz (17:23) took 2nd
and 3rd place against the Logan boys who squeaked
out a 26 to 29 victory over Mission. With all the runners
but Ricky McFerrin (18:19) returning next year, Mission
should be in good shape with Teddy Fong (18:29), Vito Prasad
(18:31) and Vincent Leong (20:17) who all ran strong in this
very close race. |
