The Mission
San Jose Cross Country team ran its first dual meet of
the season against American High School on Wednesday,
September 19. The Quarry Lakes course chosen by
American was 2 miles for non-Varsity and 3 miles for
Varsity. The weather was sunny with a 17 mile per hour
wind that slowed runners on the second half of their
races.
Team wins
were recorded by the MSJ Frosh/Soph Boys (22 to 48), and
the MSJ Varsity Girls (23 to 38). The MSJ Varsity Girls
gained momentum from running with team partners during
their race. American won the JV Boys race (25 to 30),
the JV Girls race (22 to 33), and the Boys Varsity race
(22 to 36).
Coach Marden
gave particular praise to the performances of Linda Xu
in the Varsity Girls race; Teddy Fong in the Varsity
Boys race, Estephanie Del Cid in the JV Girls Race,
Roger Chen in the Frosh/Soph Boys race; and to Brian
Tsui in the JV Boys race.
