James Leitch Elementary School is a 2010 California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School at 2011. At Leitch, the conscientious staff works collaboratively to improve instructions so that all students will succeed and excel in their educational endeavors and become life long learners. The quest for academic success is also fostered by a caring and excellent parent community who places high value on education. Therefore, our API (Academic Performance Index) score for 2012 is 987.

While we set clear goals for student's academic success, we also understand the importance to educate the whole child. Leitch School offers many opportunities for students to participate in activities such as, Study Trips, Assemblies, Music for Minors, and Starting Arts ( arts, theater, and dance). There are various functions which are put together throughout the year by our outstanding PTO. At Leitch, we emphasize "Active Student Learning". Staff, students, and parents are working towards the same goals and being highly motivated to achieve excellence.

I am truly honored to be part of this outstanding community. The staff and parents have built a strong foundation at Leitch, and the students are enjoying the fruits of these tireless efforts. I sincerely hope that we can continue to make Leitch an exceptional learning community where students are nurtured and loved so that they can develop their potentials.
