committees or assisting in any of the following
activities:
CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT
committee works to improve the MSJHS site. Fundraising
occurs throughout the school year in order to purchase
benches, tables, landscaping materials and other
supplies. Work parties, including students, parents and
staff, are held to complete designated projects
throughout the school year.
DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
committee provides education and supplies for students
and staff in the event of a major disaster. Emergency
supplies are stored on campus and updated annually. A
backpack is also provided to each classroom with
emergency supplies that are regularly checked and
maintained.
DUCKS FOR BUCKS
is a fundraiser sponsored by City of Fremont every
Spring. MSJ participates in this fundraiser and a
percentage of the money collected through sales is
returned to the school. Ducks For Bucks funds were used
to support library needs last year.
ESCRIP
encourages parents and staff to register Safeway Club
Cards, credit cards and Chevron cards so that MSJHS
receives a percentage of sales whenever the cards are
used.
SCHOOLPOP
is a website with links to vendors which donate a
percentage of sales to MSJHS. Downloadable
Scrip Order Form (PDF).
GRAD NITE
committee coordinates the Senior class grad nite, which
is a safe, alcohol and drug free celebration for the
Senior class following their graduation ceremony. It is
a night of fun, games, food and entertainment.
Fundraising events are held from September through May.

HOSPITALITY
committee caters events for staff during the school
year. Some food is also provided by parent volunteers.
Events include the staff breakfast before the first day
of school, November parent conferences, and Teacher
Appreciation week in May.
MEMBERSHIP/DONATION committee organizes the
membership drive for Mission Possible, beginning in
September. Parents and staff are invited to join as
membership is the primary fundraising effort for Mission
Possible. This year membership raised additional funds
to help the school offset some of its budget deficit
losses.

SENIOR SOBRIETY EVENT
replaced SLAM (Simulated Live Action Melodrama). SLAM
was a Substance Abuse Prevention program offered to
Seniors by FUSD and the Fremont Police and Fire
departments each Spring to teach them the dangers of
driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Budget cuts eliminated SLAM last spring, and a group of
Mission seniors presented a SENIOR SOBRIETY EVENT to
their classmates fashioned after another sobriety
program called Every 15 Minutes. Mission Possible
provides refreshments for participants.
SUBSTANCE AWARENESS
committee aims to inform both students and parents about
the dangers of substance abuse. Two parent information
nights are offered, usually in the Fall and Spring. The
chairperson also helps to coordinate the Changes Class
at MSJ, which helps students to make effective changes
in their lives when dealing with chemical dependency,
alcohol dependency, and/or behavioral, social, and anger
management issues.
