Update Feb 2008: Boosters funds
contributed to a new look for the band!
WHAT IS IT?
- The Boosters Club at Mission San Jose High School is a non-profit organization
which supports
ATHLETICS and FINE ARTS
through
donations of time and money. It is separate from
Mission Possible,
a Parent/Faculty Association, which does not contribute
to either program.
-
The
District does not provide adequate funding for these
programs. The shortfall in the operating budget for the
programs must be made up by the Boosters Club.
-
Our
programs would be eliminated or greatly diminished
without these essential funds. Increased fund-raising
ensures the survival and enhancement of these important
activities.
WHERE DOES IT GET FUNDS?
-
Membership
Fees
-
Interest
Earned from trust accounts established years ago by
Bingo fundraisers.
-
Fundraising
Events: e.g. Harvest Moon Food Festival,
Crab Feed, Pancake Breakfast
WHAT ARE THE FUNDS SPENT ON?
-
ATHLETICS: such
basics as coaching assistants, trainers, officials,
competition fees, athletic equipment and transportation.
-
FINE
ARTS :
Theater repairs, lighting, sound equipment, instruments,
uniforms, computer lab equipment, software, costumes,
sheet music, script rental fees, art media & photography
equipment. Boosters
funds contributed to a new look for the band!
WHAT ARE ITS GOALS?
-
Increase
parental awareness and support of the two departments in
attendance at both athletic and fine arts performance
events.
-
Increase
the monies available to enhance programs through
membership, donations and fund- raising activities.
-
Increase
the principal amounts of the trust funds to increase
annual interest disbursements to each program. This will
help to offset rising operating costs.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
-
A handbook
listing sports, audition dates, performances, sporting
events, staff names & phone numbers.
-
Athletics
and fine arts make a huge difference in the quality of
your student’s education. If your student participates
in these activities, it is crucial for you to join
Boosters Club since he or she benefits directly
in training, equipment and supplies.
