Brier Library:
Our library serves over 750+ students and contains over 14,000 volumes. We have 7 computers for student use to conduct research or to access our online catalog.
Students check out books weekly, but are encouraged to exchange their books during recess or after school if they are done with them. Parents, too, can check out, and are welcome to come after school or when I do not have a class. Our school library has many bi-lingual books in over 17 languages, including Spanish, Farsi, Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
Student Checkouts:
Grade K: 1 book
1st Grade through 3rd grade : up to 2 books
4th grade through 6th grade: up to 3 books
Books are due weekly but may be renewed for an additional week.

Accelerated Reader:
Accelerated Reader is a reading incentive program where students read books and earn prizes based on successfully passing quizzes. Quizzes can been taken in the classroom, computer lab or in Brier Library, using our new Neo laptops. Accelerated Reader point levels range from 1 pt to 500 pts. Point levels are tracked by the teacher. To access AR titles refer to this website: AR Bookfinder
Online Catalog:Brier's online catalog can be accessed from school or home. Go to the above link, which is a link to the district library page. This page also has links for homework help, dictionaries and literature lists for each grade level. To access e-Library click on online catalog. Then select Brier, and it will bring up a search screen. Type in the name, author, or subject and click "search everything". It will then bring up all books in our library pertaining to your search and will tell you whether they are in "stacks" (on the shelf), or checked out.

Bookfair:

We have two Scholastic Bookfairs one in the fall and one in the spring. The money raised from the fair is used to purchase books and supplies for the library. The state has cut school library funding drastically in recent years and is less than $1 per student. Therefore, the majority of our funding to support our library comes directly from bookfair profit. Many parent volunteers are needed to run the book fair.  If you are interested in volunteering contact our librarian.

1Bronco Birthday Book Club:

This is a great way to celebrate your child's birthday while helping to increase library resources for all students. Money is donated in the child's name and book(s) are purchased with a bookplate put inside the front cover to show who's birthday is being celebrated! Forms are sent out in the August newsletter, and available year around from the library. Return your donations either to the library or to your child's teacher.

California Young Reader Medal Program:

These are book awards given to books that are chosen by the students of California. The California Library Association reviews many books over a years period and several are selected in various age categories. Participating schools can then read the books to the students , who after hearing all the stories, vote on their favorites in early spring. The results are sent in and the winners announced in May. Brier's students in grades K-6 participate. What a great way to enjoy fun books and to learn about the voting process!
