THE CHINESE LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TEST FOR CURRENT MISSION STUDENTS (interested in taking Chinese Level 2 or above but NOT currently taking Chinese at Mission) will be held next TODAY from 3:30-4:00 PM in Room N1 with Mrs. Hou

AMC 10B AND 12 B WILL BE AFTER SCHOOL TOMORROW. 10B will be held in the B wing cafeteria and 12 B will be held in the A wing cafeteria

ON THURSDAY THE LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED DURING 6TH PERIOD, and remain closed after school

SPRING BLOOD DRIVE SIGN-UPS ARE IN THE STUDENT STORE AT LUNCH AND AFTER SCHOOL. You must be 16 years or older to sign up. Help save lives today

AP TESTS: IF YOU ARE TAKING AN A.P. EXAM THIS YEAR, sign up with Ms Mattingly in E 2A. She will be taking payments from February 9 through March 20. Each test is $80 except Chinese/Japanese tests which are $130.

PRACTICE SAT/ACT TEST SATURDAY, MARCH 3 AND STRATEGY SEMINAR MARCH 21. To enroll in both sessions contact Coach Vaz at pvaz@fremont.k12.ca.us or Mrs. Aldinger in the Career Center.

SENIORS APPLYING TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS. Mid year reports will be processed the next several weeks. 360 seniors applied to private schools and each one must be processed by Mrs. Faust and the Counselors. This will take time but they all should be completed within the next few weeks.

ATTENTION STUDENTS: If you are planning to apply for summer programs or scholarships please go to the Mission website, click on the Counselor tab, then click on forms to access the requirements and process for applications to summer programs/scholarships. Please note that students must give three school weeks, meaning 15 school days, notice if your program requires counselors and/or teachers to complete a form and/or a letter of recommendation. Remember, school days do not include scheduled holidays in the count.

INDIA COMMUNITY CENTER OFFERING 2012 WORKSHOP FOR TEENS for current high school students. Students will learn skills in team building, conflict resolution and public speaking. VALLEJO MILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS SETTING UP AN AFTER-SCHOOL READING CLINIC. They need high school students to work one-on-one with students in grades 1-3 to help with reading. Training and support will be provided. The clinic will run from 3:15-4:15 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Monday, March 5 through Thursday, April 26. CAREER CENTER

 

JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES:  Attend the MVROP Presentation on Thursday, March 1, in C-120 from 10:00-10:45am.  Learn more about the classes that are available from an ROP Administrator and MSJ students currently attending ROP Classes.  This is by invitation only.  Sign up in the Career Center.

 

MILITARY VISIT:  Representatives from the National Guard will be at MSJ to speak to interested students on Wednesday, February 22 during lunch in the Quad.

 

REMINDER:  The deadline to submit the 2012 Summer Science Internship is Friday, February 24.  Learn more at:  www.SummerScienceInternship.kintera.org.   

 

SENIORS:  PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR CAL GRANT GPA RELEASE FORM TO MRS. ALDINGER BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24th.

 

SENIORS:  Are you planning to attend Ohlone College in the Fall of 2012? Please remember to sign-up for both workshops, the Application Workshop held on Tuesday, March 20, at 3:00pm and the Placement Test on Tuesday, April 3, at 3:00pm.  Both workshops will be offered one day only at MSJ in the Career Center.  After that, you must arrange to take it at Ohlone College.

 

SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITY: Calif. Youth Energy Services, a summer youth employment program is gearing up again to do youth recruitment and hiring for summer 2012. View job requirements and pick-up an application in the Career Center.  If selected, Interviews will take place in the Career Center.

 

SUMMER PAID INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:  The Metropolitan Transportation Commission is sponsoring approximately 35 internships throughout the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.  The online application, work site locations and job descriptions are now posted on the MTC website at:  www.mtc.ca.gov/jobs/high_school/.   The deadline to apply is Thursday, March 8.
