Academies As part of our Smaller Learning Communities, there are two Academies at Kennedy High School, Green Tech Academy and Green Ventures Academy. Some students will already have chosen the
AVID
program in their freshman year, which assists students in preparing to
navigate
the college system. AVID students can also be in an academy. The
Green Tech Academy helps students study for a
progressive career in the green energy and economy sector while taking
courses in biotechnology, ecology, and environmental research. Green
Ventures
Academy is a good fit for students who are interested in
entrepreneurship,
culinary arts, agricultural arts, or business and management . Through
these programs,
we are able to personalize education with smaller groups of students
encountering a common set of teachers. Additionally, we are able to
direct
curriculum to ensure that our students are college ready; students take
classes
in the academies that allow them to earn college units and articulate
into
college certificate programs. All academies employ successful AVID
learning strategies. These programs set our school apart as a
community of
young people who are working together to encourage a positive future
for
themselves and our society. Last Modified on October 3, 2008
