Welcome to Fremont Adult School's EL Civics Program!
What is EL Civics?
EL Civics is a federally funded program directed to help newcomers live successful lives in the United States. The goal is to assist programs in providing instruction in civics that goes beyond the classroom lessons that require students to apply their English in a practical way in the community so that they can fulfill their roles as family members, workers, and community participants.
Here you will find many useful ESL/EL Civics internet links that you can view from home or school. To start, click on one of the links on the left side of the page. There are internet links for Banking, DMV, Education, Emergencies, Employment, Health, Housing, Nutrition, Resources for Citizens and Immigrants, and U.S. Government.
You can also watch PowerPoints that will help you fill out a bank account application, complete a check, learn about traffic signs and signals, learn what to do if you are stopped by the police, learn how to call the doctor to make an appointment, learn how to fill out an apartment rental application, and many more.
The PowerPoints are"Read Only." Click on"Open"and then click on"Read Only"to open the PowerPoints. You do not need to enter a password. Some of the PowerPoints are large, so please be patient while they download. Once the PowerPoint opens, press the "F5" key on your keyboard to play the PowerPoint. To exit the PowerPoint, press the "ESC" key.
