Classroom Recognition
Every Teacher has a positive recognition program in their classroom. Although the program varies from class to class, all students have an opportunity to be recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom. Please contact your child's teacher to learn more of the positive recognition program that he/she uses.
The Student of the Month is selected by the classroom teacher. Every month, the teacher selects one student in his/her class that has demonstrated one or more of the following criteria:
High Academic Achievement
Outstanding Effort
Exemplary Citizenship
Selected students have their pictures taken and displayed in the main hallway adjacent to the principal's office. The photos remain displayed for a month and then are returned to the students to take home.
The Principal's Award is given to students who do something special, not because someone told them they had to, because they knew that it was the right thing
to do. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Being a friend to someone who really needs a friend
Demonstrating honesty ... such as turning in lost money
Displaying random acts of kindness to others
The Principal's Award is a certificate that recognizes students for their contribution to making Niles School a great place to learn and grow.
