TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN:  On 9/30/10, the Governor signed SB1381 establishing the Kindergarten Readiness Act which changed the kindergarten entry age and established the Transitional Kindergarten Program.  The new law goes into effect for the 2012-2013 school year and requires students to be 5 years old by NOVEMBER 1, 2012.  Students must be 5 years old by October 1, 2013 for the 2013-14 school year and by September 1, 2014 for the 2014-15 school year.

In Fremont, we have established the "High Five" Transitional Kindergarten Program that is currently implemented in seven classrooms at four schools across the district.  These students are attending transitional kindergarten this school year and will attend kindergarten next year at their home school.  The curriculum is based on the California Preschool Learning Foundations and aligned with the Kindergarten standards.

Enrollment packets will be available to parents for new transitional kindergartne students at the home school beginning December 6th, 2012.  Registration for transitional kindergarten with siblings in grades K-5 is January 15-23, 2013 at the home school.  Registration for all qualifying transitional kindergarten students begins January 24, 2013 also at the home school.  Attendance in the Transitional Kindergarten Program is not required but is encouraged to help students succeed the following year in a traditional kindergarten classroom.  Please contact our school office if you have any questions.
