Clubs - Foreign Language

Cantonese Club
Cantonese Club is an organization that strives to promote an enlightening outlook on Cantonese culture and traditions. Students of any ethnic background are welcome to join and learn more about Cantonese culture through a assortment of fun activities, which may include, but are not limited to, pop culture, food, history and trends.

Dead Languages Society
This club introduces members to the benefits of knowing such dead languages as Latin, Ancient Greek, and Old English. Members can improve their knowledge of English vocabulary, mythology, and cultures of the ancient world.

French Club
Bonjour! French culture has made its own niche at MSJ in the form of the French Club. The goal of this club is to allow its members to experience and explore French culture through a wide range of activities, which include Mardi Gras luncheons, various dramatic productions, movies, and best of all, chocolate-dipped delicacies! And remember, there is no need to know or be taking French to participate in this club and celebrate French culture, but for those who are taking French, there is the opportunity to join the International French Honors Society.

Japanese Club
Movie Nights are held at the end of every quarter is open to the entire student body. There, we watch a Japanese movie and have Japanese snacks. The week before winter break is when we make origami Santa Claus ornaments. We also celebrate Girl's Festival Day by eating traditional snacks and learning about the event. During our meetings, we listen to j-pop and talk about the current trends -- sometimes even karaoke. In addition, Japanese Club is an active participant during Multicultural Week. We plan to sell the same thing next year - Ramune drinks because they were a hit. Next year, Japanese Club has plans to visit the Japantown in San Francisco where students will be exposed to the authentic Japanese culture. Finally, the end-of-the-year party is when we order Japanese food from a  restaurant and have numerous activities for the students.

Spanish Honor Society
The Spanish Honor Society is an organization designed to increase awareness ญof the Spanish language and culture as well as encourage academic excellence in Spanish studies. Members promote Spanish through cultural activities, community service including tutoring Spanish students, and field trips to Spanish cultural festivities and productions.
