![]() English Department Four years of English are required for graduation. Please see the chart below for the basic FUSD sequence of courses; however, it is possible for students to move among the class levels from year to year, for example, a student taking honors or Advanced Placement one year may choose to go into college prep. the following year, etc. For information on particular classes, including homework, syllabi, grading policy and course requirements, please see the individual teacher websites at irvington.org under Teachers. For English language learners, ELL English is also offered at all levels. Course Descriptions Course descriptions are from the Fremont Unified School District Course Catalog. Students will only take one English class at each grade level (Exception: ELL Connections). Which class will depend on which class is appropriate for the student's needs and goals. Please see your current English teacher or your counselor if you have questions about which course you need to take. Click on course title to view the booklist for each course. Keep in mind that not all the books on the list will be taught by every teacher every year. Students are not required to purchase course books, but prices are included in the book lists in the event of loss of a book. Checks for the replacement of a book should be made out to "Irvington High School."
