Welcome to Room 401 and our 4th grade class at Forest Park Elementary. This is my 17th year in teaching, and my 1st year at Forest Park. I formerly taught most recently at Cabrillo Elementary as a 6th grade teacher for 4 years, before that at Robertson Continuation High School in Fremont Unified as an English and PE teacher for 6 years, and before that I previously taught in Oakland Unified for 6 years (5 years as a 6th grade middle school English/Social Studies Core teacher & 1 year as an elementary K-1 combination teacher). I have enjoyed working in challenging environments over the years, and have had the luxury of seeing how kids change in the different school settings ranging from elementary, middle, and high school. I have coached basketball (at Oakland's Roosevelt Middle School, and Fremont's Robertson High School) and varsity tennis (at Mission San Jose High School here in Fremont) in the past as well, which I enjoy playing as well on my spare time. I hope to instill a caring and challenging environment in 4th grade to help students learn the various standards in the various subjects here at Fremont Elementary.
Parents, please visit my website: www.engrade.com/dtoy73 to login and view a calendar of assignments, projects, and/or tests for the current trimester. Most of all, you can check to see your child's grades with a special access code. You would have received it on Back to School Night. If not, I sent it home on a strip of paper with your child the next day to give to you. Click on the assignments link to the left to view the homework policy. Note: Long Term Projects from any of the core subjects will be assigned during the trimester with due dates being anywhere from 2 - 5 weeks from the time the project was originally assigned. Use good time management skills to occasionally work on the projects, so as not to wait until the last minute to do it. "It takes a village to raise a child."
