2 School Site Council Representatives Needed
We are looking for an additional parent to join the School Site Council for a 2-year term from Fall 2011 through Summer 2013. Being a parent member of SSC is different from all other parent opportunities in that you will be working directly with students and MSJHS personnel in a decision-making capacity regarding school improvement policy, certain state funding allocations, and meeting the needs of all our students. School Site Council (SSC) meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each academic month @ 3 p.m. in room P4, MSJHS. Selection of the incoming SSC representatives for 2011 will be made by the MPPFA Board, and interested parents should send an email before Monday, October 10 to: president@missionpossiblepfa.com. Please include the following: Your name Contact Information Students names and grades Short statement on why you are seeking to become a member of SSC More about SSC: School Site Council is a governance body made up of teachers, administrators, students, parents and other school personnel. SSC determines how certain school funding is distributed; ratifies the staff development day topics chosen by staff; approves the Site Safety Plan, discipline policy and the SPAA plan (Single Plan for Pupil Achievement). SSC meets once per month following the school day. Behind the creation of the School Site Council in the 1970s was the belief that those involved on a daily basis with students and the school are uniquely qualified to make well informed decisions regarding school improvement, (like students, parents, teachers, administrators and school staff). Parent members of SSC are chosen annually so that each year the SSC has a mix of parents both familiar with and new to School Site Council. Additional information on SSC can be found on the MSJHS web site. Thank you for considering this position! Thank you for applying!
