    EL CIVICs Employment Unit/Module 33.7 . Dates 02/16/10-03/19/10 (5 weeks)

    ·         Our class tests will be the week of 2/22 and 3/19. The second test is verbal with a test assessor.

     

    Goal, Objectives and Tasks

    Assessment

    Overall Goal: Identify and access employment and training resources needed to apply for a job

     

    1.      Required Objective: Complete a job application.

    a.       Required Task: Interpret and complete a job application. The student will complete a modified (BL, BH) or authentic (IL-A) job application form

    2.      Required Objective: Demonstrate successful job interview techniques with appropriate body language and preparedness to make a good impression at a job interview

    a.       Required Task: Role play a simulated job interview with an outside assessor

    • Locate and identify employment agencies, training agencies and/or resource centers and describe their services.
    • Read job ads and announcements for specific information.
    • Identify job titles, responsibilities and places of work.
    • Identify different job duties, and wages associated with jobs.
    • Locate, analyze, and describe job requirements, including licenses, credentials, etc. needed for specific jobs.

    Identify procedures for protecting employment rights and access resources that support and assist the worker.

    1.Collect and read information about workers rights from organizations such as OSHA/EOC and unions.

    2.List agencies that protect the rights of workers.

    3.Identify, discuss and write about workers rights and possible violations of workers rights.

    6.Determine eligibility for employment dependent on immigration status.
